The Project
I wanted to be able to put my powerheads into the tank
without covering them with rocks. I like using the Quick cartridge filters
on them. I'll end up using 2 each of Hagen/Aquaclear 402s and 802s. The
way I planned on this working, if there are any problems with the powerheads,
I can just reach in and pull them out. Same thing with the Quick filters.
I feel any way you can keep sand out of a powerhead is good. All I have
to do is wiggle the tubing off the powerhead.
I got the cpvc ready at work. The longer pieces ended
up about 1/2 the length in the pic with an elbow instead of a "T".
I used some clear rubber tubing to attach my powerheads to the CPVC pipe.
You can do all kinds of cool things with the cpvc pipe. Just remember,
you may have to move some rocks, the longer the pipe, the more rock to
move. Don't bother gluing the cpvc either. It fits nice and tight and
you'll be able to change the direction of the flow just by twisting the
elbow.
