Joining SCX track with Ninco
I
bought the SCX NASCAR Tri Oval Set today to get the Harvick Reeses Car. I was
going to sell the rest until I remembered that the Ninco Mini Cooper set came
with an adapter track that would adapt Ninco to SCX or Scalex (same animal) I
thought it might be cool to have that turn at the far end at the head of the main
straight a high bank. Not only is it banked, it's a wider radius! This page isn't
finished. I have to smooth out the turn with some wood underneath it. I want it
a little higher too.
I was able to remove some of the curves I wanted gone too.
I also got another pair of LC tracks today, thats one on the left.
About 1/2 of the curved section in the old picture on the left
was removed.
Here's the other new LC. I found a couple pieces of 20cm straight that I was using as a 40cm when I was adding a new LC track so I added them to the short straight on the infield hairpin.
I bought a second PitLane and cut one of my extra 40cm straights
in 1/2 so I could lengthen the Pit Lane hoping the cars wouldn't go all the way
through when they came in for a stop. It will also make room for more cars to
stop at the same time. Cutting the Ninco track was very easy. 4 passes with my
utility knife and I was through the soft plastic. I had put a piece of the single
lane section that came with the Pit Lane Set on top of a full 40cm piece and scored
it with the edge of a jewelers screwdriver. An awl or anything like that would
have worked too. Hey even a pencil, but I like to put a groove in stuff like that,
it seems to help guide the knife. I'm going to get some 1/8" pinstriping
tape from my RC guys store and dress up the plain looking straight section in
the pits with some diagonal lines or something. I'm also going to run the wires
under the benchwork.
