Triumph TR4A Conversion
Converting an Airfix kit into a slot car.

I'm starting with a1/32 scale Airfix Triumph TR4A model kit and an MRRC slot car chassis.

The 1st thing I have to do is move the front wheels back.

I drilled a couple holes in the chassis.
I also had to move the pick up back. I drilled a new hole for it too

The wheels fit where they belong now.

2 light coats of Testors Candy Apple Red over a Silver base coat. I can't wait to put a few racing decals on it, starting with a white racing stripe.

I lightly sanded over the Triumph Logo and name on the hood. Just enough to take the Candy red off and leave the Silver base.

I checked it out with the Hard and Soft tops and decided to go with the top down/toneau cover

I had to do a lot of sanding and trial fittings to get this perfect but it looks nice now that it's done.

I'm totally not happy with the look of the vac-formed guy for this open cockpit so I'm going to see if I can fit this Mini Cooper driver in it. If not, I'll operate on him and amputate the lower 1/2 of his body and glue it to some sheet styrene.

I had to cut the driver in 1/2 but it looks so much better. I also had to make a new tonneau cover.

Much like the real car the model is narrow. For me to fit the tires and wheels inside the fenders they'd need to be the width of washers.

Waiting on it's "wax job"

I had to get an Artin F1/ Dragster Chassis so the wheels would fit under the body. I also got 2 sets of BRM wire wheels. I had to shorten the chassis a bunch and alter the rear so the wheels could go in more.
