Installing Ninco Decoder Chip into an SCX Chassis
1st you want to cut these 2 pins off because this is where the decoder chip is going to fit like it was made to go there.
Read the bottom of the page 1st.
Next you need to bend the 2 contact strips that go from the motor so they aren't touching the chassis anymore. You'll need to solder a short wire to each one. The left one goes in the left hole of the decoder chip and the right in the right. You can solder them in like some of the "Experts" say, but I've had no problems at all using the little plastic pegs they supply. I've had some very nasty crashes head on into an 8x8 pole at wide open throttle and 4' drops to the floor and not a problem. If you look under the chip, you'll notice I used 2 pieces of tape they give you. This keeps the chip up high enough so the pegs won't hit on the chassis on impacts.
Now slide the little metal tips off the pickup wires. The wires need to be soldered to the contact strips on the chassis. I've found that, on every car and every brand when pointing the decoder chip to the front of the car, the pickup wire need to be criss crossed to be correct. So do like in the picture, cross the wires and solder them.
I got it all out of order by looking at the pictures. The
easiest order to do this is to
Cut those Plastic pins
on the chassis
1. bend up the contacts.
2.
Put the wires on the holes
3.Take the tips off the pickup wires
4. Cross
them and solder them to the strips on the chassis
5. Put the tape on the chip
and stick it down
6. Solder the 2 wires to the motor contacts.
